Frequently Asked Questions

How does the automatic face detection work?

Our tool uses advanced AI technology that runs directly in your browser to detect faces. The model analyzes your image and identifies facial features, then creates blur regions around each detected face. You can adjust the confidence threshold to control how sensitive the detection is.

Is my photo private and secure?

Absolutely! All processing happens entirely in your browser using WebAssembly and JavaScript. Your photos are never uploaded to any server - they stay completely on your device. This makes our tool perfect for sensitive photos containing people's faces.

What's the difference between blur and pixelate?

Blur creates a smooth, out-of-focus effect that softens facial features. Pixelation creates a mosaic of colored blocks, making faces unrecognizable in a more obvious way. Both effectively protect privacy, but blur tends to look more natural while pixelation is more clearly intentional.

Why aren't all faces being detected?

Face detection works best with clearly visible, front-facing faces. Try lowering the confidence threshold to detect more faces - this will make the AI more sensitive but may occasionally detect non-faces. Faces that are very small, partially hidden, at extreme angles, or in poor lighting may not be detected automatically, but you can always add blur regions manually.

Can I blur faces in multiple photos at once?

Yes! Upload multiple images and run face detection on all of them. Each image gets its own preview where you can adjust the detected regions. Use 'Process & Download All' to save all your blurred images at once, or download them individually.

What image formats are supported?

You can blur faces in images saved as JPEG/JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, BMP, ICO. After processing, choose your preferred output format from AVIF, BMP, GIF, JPG (JPEG), PNG, SVG, TIFF, WebP.

How do I adjust which faces are blurred?

After running face detection, you can click on any detected region to remove it if it's a false positive. To blur additional areas (like faces the AI missed), switch to 'Select Areas' mode and draw rectangles or use the brush tool to paint over the regions you want to blur.

What are common uses for face blurring?

Face blurring is commonly used for protecting privacy in street photography, anonymizing people in research or documentation, complying with privacy regulations like GDPR, sharing photos on social media while respecting others' privacy, and preparing images for public use or publication.
