AI Image Unblur
Unblur and sharpen blurry photos with AI — fix camera shake and motion blur, rescue out-of-focus shots, and clean up soft, low-quality images. Optionally sharpen faces, and on Pro choose between a natural (faithful) and a detailed (generative) AI model — or run both and compare. Batch up to 5 photos, with a zoomable before/after preview of every result. Free to try.
Allowed Filetypes: PNG, JPEG, WebP
Max size: 15MB • Max files: 5
Real Unblur Examples
Powered by modern deep-learning deblurring models, our tool brings blurry snapshots and out-of-focus shots back into focus — recovering edges, fine detail, and faces. Every example below is a real, unedited result.

How to unblur a photo with AI
- 1Drop up to 5 blurry photos (PNG, JPG, or WebP) into the upload area.
- 2Leave Also sharpen faces on for portraits — the AI detects every face and reconstructs it in detail.
- 3On Pro, pick your model — Natural for a faithful result, Detailed for a generative one, or Both to compare them.
- 4Click Unblur Photos — the AI removes blur and sharpens detail on our servers and shows a before/after preview. Click any result to zoom in.
- 5Rename if you like, then download photos individually or grab the whole batch as a ZIP. Signed in? Results are saved to My Files automatically.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the AI unblur tool free?
Yes — you get a few free AI credits per day (shared across all Imagy AI tools), with inputs up to 1024 px on the longest side, including optional face sharpening. Imagy Pro lets you choose a stronger generative AI model (or run both), with inputs up to 2048 px, billed at 1 AI credit per photo.
What kinds of blur can it fix?
Camera shake and motion blur, out-of-focus softness, and the general softness of low-quality or heavily compressed images. It works best on photos that are blurry but otherwise intact — it recovers detail that's smeared, rather than inventing content that was never captured. Very severe blur is reconstructed more aggressively with Pro's Detailed (generative) model.
Which model should I choose?
Natural is faithful and realistic — it sharpens the detail that's actually there and is the best default for everyday and mild blur. Detailed uses a generative AI model that rebuilds detail on heavily blurred photos for a more dramatic result, though it can look a little less true to the original. Not sure which to use? On Pro, choose Both and compare the two results side by side. Free always uses the Natural model.
Can it sharpen faces?
Yes — turn on "Also sharpen faces" and the AI detects every face and reconstructs it in detail, then sharpens the surrounding areas (hair, shoulders, background) to match so the whole photo looks even. If a face comes out looking too smooth or slightly artificial, turn the toggle off and run again.
What AI model does this use?
Free unblurs run Restormer — a proven open deblurring model that faithfully sharpens motion and out-of-focus blur — with optional GFPGAN face reconstruction and matching background sharpening. Pro adds a model picker: Natural (the same faithful approach at higher resolution) or Detailed (DiffBIR, a state-of-the-art generative model that reconstructs plausible sharp detail on heavy blur) — or run Both and compare.
Will it work on very blurry photos?
Mild to moderate blur sharpens up very well. For severe blur, the Natural model can only recover what's recoverable, so some softness may remain — Pro's Detailed (generative) model reconstructs more detail and gives the strongest results on hard cases.
What output format do I get?
The output mirrors your input: JPG in, JPG out; PNG or WebP in, PNG out (transparency is preserved on PNG). You can rename each file before downloading.
Can I unblur multiple photos at once?
Yes — up to 5 photos per batch. Each photo is processed in parallel, you can rename them individually, and download everything as a ZIP.
What's the maximum photo size?
Uploads up to 15 MB per photo. Free inputs are processed at up to 1024 px on the longest side, Pro at up to 2048 px.
Are my photos stored?
Uploaded originals are deleted automatically within 48 hours. If you're signed in, unblurred photos are saved to your My Files storage; anonymous results are removed after 30 days.
